Because of the high sugar content of honey, it is easily fermented into an alcoholic, honey-wine beverage known as mead. Mead is the oldest known alcoholic beverage, dating back to 9000 BC. Like grape wine, mead can be made dry or sweet, depending on the amount of honey used.
Join us December 10th, from 2-4, to learn the basics of mead making. And, if your schedule allows, stick around another hour for mingling and refreshments.
We will have some brew kits available for purchase with everything you will need to go home and make your own, including real, raw, local honey. Kits cost $25 and will be available first come first serve.
Cost of the class will be $15 to pay the instructor for his time and the Urbandale for the use of their facility.
